The Washington National Cathedral is a majestic structure, an architectural wonder of the 20th century. It is a stunning beauty. The spiritual centerpiece of our nation’s capital is where Americans come to worship, pray and sometimes mourn the passing of world leaders.
It is filled with amazing detail: unique chapels, alters and stained glass windows. It’s no wonder it took 83 years to complete. There are 231 stained glass windows and one of them has more than 10,500 pieces.
During a trip to Washington, D.C., I visited the cathedral and was given an impromptu tutorial on those many different windows. Each was designed by a different person to convey a special story or theme. And each one was a celebration of the Gospel.
That is where I got the inspiration for the “Windows of My Soul” project. The songs on the project come from many different writers, but all convey a “Gospel message.” I also wanted to show you the people who are most important in my life, so the insert displays photos of my family: brothers, sisters, wife, daughter and friends.
Just as the Washington National Cathedral shows our spiritual history, the elements of this project are the “Windows of My Soul.” To see a list of songs on this project and to learn how you can order, click here.
